Men’s Health Initiative
The purpose of Men’s Health Month (June) is to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems in men, to encourage early detection and participation in preventative care and wellness programs. We are excited to launch our Men’s Health Initiative is designed to draw attention to these issues by sharing facts, resources, and hosting wellness initiatives in support of men’s health.
Currently, men are dying an average of 5 years younger than women and lead 9 out of 10 of the top causes of death. Men are also at a greater risk of death in every age group. Although more males than females are born (105 vs 100), but by age 35, women outnumber men. One of the main factors is that men are less likely to see physicians for regular check-ups, and are also less to participate in wellness programming.
All month long we will be sharing men’s health facts on to raise awareness and to support men in taking steps to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook – @WellatUF.

The Men’s Health Wellness Campaign will focus on highlighting the issues of men’s health. Our goal is to encourage more participation in preventative care practices and wellness programming. We hope to spotlight on this much need topic and to provide an opportunity for the campus community to engage in these discussions.
